I wish I could write well. I wish publishers were knocking on my door with hundreds of offers for a book deal. I wish I had come up with the idea for Junie B. Jones or Harry Potter. But most of all, I wish I had kept a daily journal of my life. There are so many times when I think about past experiences that I can’t remember details of those events. I constantly ask myself these questions when remembering the past: “Who? What? Where? When? Why? How?” For instance, as a child I remember sliding on plastic runners in my Grandma’s house. Why did I do that? When did I do that? Where did I do that? How did I do that? Who did that with me? Another example, I remember going to a friend’s house in college. We went to his grandpa’s house and looked around. Why did we go to Adam’s house to begin with and why did we go to his grandpa’s house? When did we go to Adam’s house---was it my senior year of college? Summertime? Another holiday? How did we get there? Did we ride with Adam or did we go with a group? Who went to Adam’s house besides me? If anyone could fill me in with the details that would be greatly appreciated! Since I can’t go back and write a daily journal of the past, I can start now recording daily happenings, especially for Liam to look back upon. Of course, some days would consist of this: Liam woke up at 7:30. Then he ate oatmeal. Then we went outside for a walk around the neighborhood. After our walk, Liam played in his room for an hour. Then we did lessons (looking at flashcards). At 11:30 we ate lunch. At 12:15, Liam laid down for a nap, while I cleaned house. At 3:00, Liam woke up and we watched a little TV. At 4:20, Keith came home from work and played with Liam while I cooked supper. We ate supper at 5:30. We played some more and then went for another walk around the neighborhood. At 7:45, we gave Liam a bath. At 8:00, Liam went to sleep for the night while we watched a movie. Sounds so mundane, but it’s our life. (Where have I heard that before? Oh, Jon and Kate plus 8---Please don’t compare us to them!) Scrapbooking has allowed me a creative outlet to write all the details of our life down for Liam. So I’m hoping that by blogging about our life, I will leave behind for someone (hopefully Liam) all the details of our life. I hope that one day he will appreciate the little details written down by his wishful writer mom. Until next time……….
